A shelter-in-place order was lifted for most of the campus except Alpine Village Friday morning.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A shelter-in-place order for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) has been lifted for most of the campus while police investigate a death Friday morning.
UCCS Public Safety posted at 7:02 a.m. that a lockdown was in place at the campus located at 1420 Austin Bluffs Pkwy.
About eight minutes later, authorities said there was no active shooter, but asked people on campus to continue sheltering in place until further notice. They also said campus would be closed for the day.
Just before 8 a.m., authorities said the shelter-in-order was reduced to just Alpine Village, and that anyone in other areas were allowed to leave campus. However, police also asked people to limit their movements on campus.
Around 8:15 a.m., Colorado Springs Police said they were investigating a death.
