U.S. 6 open in Clear Creek Canyon after truck crash

The highway was shut down in both directions between Highway 119 near Black Hawk and Colorado 93 west of Golden.

GOLDEN, Colo. — U.S. 6 was closed through Clear Creek Canyon on Friday after a truck crash, according to Colorado State Patrol.

The highway was shut down in both directions between Highway 119 near Black Hawk and Colorado 93 west of Golden.

CSP said the crash happened just before 1 p.m. Friday. The truck driver was taken to a hospital. The driver’s injuries and condition was not immediately available, according to CSP.

A large tow truck was on the way to remove the wrecked commercial vehicle, CSP said on the social media platform X. Photos shared by CSP showed the cab of the truck on its side on the shoulder.

Colorado State Patrol and the Golden Fire Department responded to the scene.

The Colorado Department of Transportation shared on X just after 6 p.m. that the highway was back open.
