Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash Friday morning near the Parker Road exit.

AURORA, Colo. — Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a man dead early Friday morning, the agency said in a news release.

According to the release, CSP said troopers responded about 1:15 a.m. to a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 225 and Highway 83 in Arapahoe County. The southbound lanes of I-225 were closed until about 4:45 a.m. while authorities investigated.

The pedestrian, a 34-year-old Thornton man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, CSP said. The driver left their vehicle, a Ford Econoline, at the scene and ran away, according to the release.

CDOT cameras appeared to show several wrecked vehicles at the scene. Aurora Police Department and Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

As CDOT’s vehicular crimes unit investigates the cause of the crash, the agency asks any witnesses or those who may have information to contact CSP dispatch at 303-239-4501. Callers can reference case number 1C242927.
