Broomfield Police said officers looked into the incident and do not believe a crime occurred.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — A teacher in the Boulder Valley School District is on administrative leave after being accused of placing handcuffs on a student with autism.

Broomfield Police said they looked into a tip about the teacher at Aspen Creek Pre-K-8 school and believe no crime occurred.

A police spokesperson said the department received a tip on Saturday about the incident through the Safe2Tell system and was also notified by the school district.

Neither the department nor the district gave details on what exactly occurred or when. Police said school resource officers have been in touch with the child’s parents.

The school district said the teacher is on paid administrative leave and facing an internal investigation.

Aspen Creek Pre-K-8 has 760 students in both elementary and middle school, its website said
