The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation led to the seizure of 32 roosters from a property in Watkins.

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — Deputies have arrested a man in connection with a suspected cockfighting operation in Adams County.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media Friday that an investigation led to the seizure of 32 roosters from a property in Watkins, with some of the birds showing injuries that appeared to be consistent with cockfighting.

The sheriff’s office worked with Adams County Animal Management and the Bureau of Animal Protection to serve the warrant, the post said.

Deputies took 34-year-old Jesus Orozco to the Adams County jail on suspicion of animal fighting and aggravated cruelty to animals, according to the post.

The case will be presented to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for the filing of charges.
