Anissa Johnson, 27, is accused of killing a 64-year-old man whose body was found more than a week after he died.
DENVER — Police have arrested a woman accused of killing a 64-year-old man whose body was found more than a week after he died.
The Denver Police Department said officers responded to a building in the 1200 block of Washington Street on Jan. 2 for a welfare check. They found the man’s body inside, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the victim had multiple sharp force injuries to his back and a possible defensive injury to his hand, indicating that his death was a homicide.
Detectives determined the victim had been killed on Dec. 23 or 24. His name has not been released.
Surveillance video helped DPD to identify Anissa Johnson, 27, as a suspect. She was arrested on Jan. 5 after an officer spotted her in the area of East 14th Avenue and North Ogden Street, according to the probable cause statement. She is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.
The redacted statement does not reveal a motive in the crime, nor anything about Johnson’s relationship to the victim.
