DENVER — Animal protection officers are trying to find a stray dog that was reportedly shot in Denver this week.
Denver Animal Shelter said in a release Friday that the stray dog has been on the run since April. Denver Animal Protection officers have received a number of calls about him from all over the city, the release said.
Officers have set traps for him, but they’ve been unable to catch the dog because he is extremely smart, very evasive and skittish.
The shelter said that on Thursday, Denver Police received a report that the dog had been shot. Animal protection officers are trying to find him so he can get the medical care he needs.

The dog has been reported in the area of 400 S. Tejon St., according to the release. Anyone who sees the dog is asked not to approach him or run after him.
Anyone who is able to confine the dog in their yard, shed or garage is asked to do so and immediately call 720-913-2080.
