After a mild and dry start to the week, Colorado has big changes ahead in the forecast before the weekend arrives.
DENVER — A warm and dry start to the week will end with snow and much colder temperatures in Colorado.
A cold front will move into Colorado late Thursday bringing strong winds in the foothills and mountains west of Denver on Thursday.
By Friday morning, Colorado and the Denver metro area will see a new round of snow and cold temperatures.
The Front Range and Denver area can expect several inches of snow by Saturday morning. Snow total predictions range from 1 to 4 inches in the Denver area. Up to one foot of snow could fall in Colorado’s high country.
Before the wind picks up Thursday, a strong ridge of high pressure will remain in control of Colorado’s weather, keeping the state mild and dry again on Wednesday.
Colorado will begin to see a strong westerly flow late Wednesday into Thursday. As a result, a High Wind Watch has been issued for portions of the north central mountains with potential gusts reaching up to 75 mph.
