No officers were injured in the shooting which happened near West 4th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard.
LAKEWOOD, Colo — Lakewood Police said they’re investigating a shooting that involved officers in the area of West 4th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. That is in the area of a Walmart store but it’s not clear exactly where the shooting happened.
The agency said on social media that no officers were injured but did not say if anyone else was hit by gunfire. There is also a second scene not far away at 6th Avenue and Garrison Street, according to police.
9NEWS has a crew headed to the scene and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation.
From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
