A spokesperson for the hospital said the shooting might have been related to domestic violence.
GREELEY, Colo. — There was a large police presence at the UCHealth Greeley Hospital after a reported shooting Thursday morning in the parking lot.
Greeley Police did not say whether anyone was hurt in the shooting at the hospital, located at 6767 W. 29th St. It was also unknown whether anyone was in custody.
Officers, detectives and other first responders are expected to remain at the hospital for some time as they investigate what happened, police said.
As a precaution, Greeley Police said that UCHealth placed the hospital on lockdown. There is no active threat to the hospital, the agency said.
In a statement, UCHealth said there was a “situation” in the parking lot and indicated that they were told by police that it might have been “an isolated case of domestic violence.”
The hospital also said they don’t believe there is an “ongoing” threat but said there would be extra security on campus to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.”
Evans Police posted on their Facebook page that there was a heavy police presence in the area of Chappelow K-8 school, which is at 2001 34th St. That’s about a 15-minute drive from the UCHealth location. At this time, it’s unclear whether the police presence there is connected to the shooting.
