The son of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon met with Khan to discuss “possibilities moving forward,” according to a report.

ARLINGTON, Texas — North Texas has been host to several momentous events in the history of wrestling, and it may have been the sight of another major shift, as reports say Shane McMahon met with AEW Owner Tony Khan in Arlington on Monday.

According to wrestling news sites Fightful and WrestleTalk, Khan and Shane McMahon, the son of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon and a former WWE executive and wrestler himself, met at an office in an Arlington airport. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful said sources told him the meeting was to discuss “possibilities going forward.”

McMahon hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since WrestleMania 39 in April 2023, where he wrestled a match against The Miz. Fightful has previously reported in June that McMahon wasn’t under contract with WWE.

Earlier this month, Khan spoke about the possibility of bringing McMahon into the promotion on the sports radio show “Maggie & Perloff,” where he said he had not had any conversations with McMahon at that point.

“I’d always be open to talk to him and he’s welcome to stop by any time,” Khan said on the show. “There’s been all kinds of interesting people in wrestling to come into AEW and walk through that Forbidden Door. This might be, if it ever happened, one of the more shocking ones.”

McMahon has made history in Arlington before, as he made his return to WWE after a seven-year absence in 2016 at WrestleMania 32, where he wrestled The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match. In arguably the most memorable moment of the night, McMahon leapt off the top of the 20-foot cell, crashing through a table below.

Khan has been in Arlington regularly for the past two weeks, as AEW is in the middle of a month-long residency at Esports Stadium in Arlington, where they have been hosting weekly broadcasts of AEW Collision and the PPV Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor.
