A group of people were seen shooting fireworks near where a brush fire started at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said.
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a group of people were seen shooting fireworks near where a brush fire started Wednesday evening.
The sheriff’s office said it received a report at 6:27 p.m. of a fire at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds.
Crews from South Metro Fire and Aurora Fire were able to get the fire contained Wednesday.
A witness reported seeing several young people shooting fireworks in the area, followed by large flames shortly after.
The witness reported one of the people was wearing a white t-shirt, green ball cap and black shorts.
Arapahoe County was under a Stage 2 Burn Ban, and the sheriff’s office said anyone caught violating the ban will be charged.
