The school’s principal said the administration was made aware of the allegations through an anonymous tip.

LITTLETON, Colo. — Police are investigating assault allegations involving Littleton High School football players.

Superintendent Todd Lambert said in a message to the Littleton Public Schools community that the Littleton High School administration and the Littleton Police Department were investigating allegations of assault among members of the school’s football program.

The message includes a letter from Littleton High School Principal Dr. Thomas Velazquez to families of the school’s football players that says the administration was made aware of the allegations through an anonymous tip.

“We will fully cooperate with the Littleton Police Department as they continue the investigation,” Velazquez said. “We will keep you updated as we are able, as this situation evolves and as we receive more details that will inform our next steps.”

Friday’s football practice and team dinner and Saturday’s scrimmage have all been canceled, Velazquez said.

Lambert said he was not able to share more details about the investigation.
