Schools in the area of Mississippi Avenue and South Dudley Street were placed on lockout as a precaution. Police said they would provide updates.
LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Some schools in Lakewood were put on a precautionary secure status because of police activity near Mississippi Avenue and South Dudley Street, police said Thursday afternoon.
Lakewood Police posted on X about their efforts to arrest a fugitive. They posted, “There are no threats to the schools and classes will continue as normal while we work to remedy the situation.”
9NEWS reached out to Jeffco Public Schools and police to identify the schools in secure status and haven’t heard back yet. Two schools in the area are Patterson Elementary School and Alameda Junior-Senior High School.
Police said they will continue to post updates to X with any developing information about the incident.
