DENVER — Colorado Attorney General, Phil Weiser, will hold a news conference to provide an update on the Colorado Department of Law’s review of the proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons. The news conference is scheduled for 11 a.m.

In 2022, Kroger announced it would purchase Albertsons in a $24.6 billion merger.
Kroger operates 148 stores in Colorado under King Soopers and City Market banners, according to the Attorney General’s Office. Albertsons operates 105 Safeway and Albertsons stores in Colorado.
The Colorado Department of Law is reviewing the proposed merger to ensure it is lawful, does not undermine competition, and is fair to consumers, workers farmers, and suppliers.
