Lafayette Police said officers shot a man who was stabbing his father early Sunday morning.
LAFAYETTE, Colo. — Lafayette Police are investigating after they say officers shot a man while he was stabbing his father early Sunday morning.
Officers responded around 2:45 a.m. to a reported disturbance involving the father and son in the 2400 block of Waneka Lake Trail.
When officers arrived they saw the suspect stabbing his father with knives, police said. They tried to get the suspect to stop before determining they had to shoot the suspect.
The suspect and victim were taken to the hospital, and the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. No officers were injured.
Two officers who fired their guns are being placed on administrative leave, which police said is standard protocol.
Criminal charges will be recommended to the district attorney’s office when the suspect is released from the hospital, police said.
The shooting is being investigated by the Boulder County Critical Indient Team.
