Mountain Air Ranch sits just a mile away from the Quarry Fire, and had to be evacuated.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Clothing will be optional at a fundraiser for Colorado firefighters on Saturday.

Mountain Air Ranch will be hosting its annual fundraiser for firefighters just days after being evacuated for the Quarry Fire.

Those flames closed within about a mile of the resort, known for being the only family nudist resort on the Front Range.

“This property is a magical place, and we take care of one another,” said Operations Manager Chris May. “So the thought of ever losing the sanctuary, I don’t know where I would go from here, it’s just such a beautiful group.”

May said the night the fire started, they went door to door evacuating about 45 people who were staying at the resort that night.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from reaching the grounds, and May said she’s extremely grateful.

Saturday’s fundraiser will begin at noon, and $15 will get you two hot dogs and a beer. All donations will go to local fire departments and to fire mitigation in the area.

May said the ranch has about 500 members, and there are strict rules ensuring people who join are there for the right reasons.

“We are here in our rawest state, and we have to be able to trust that we’re not being judged and that we’re being cared about just for who we are,” she said.  “That’s what MAR [Mountain Air Ranch] is, and I don’t know if you can find it someplace else.”
