It’s been 10 months since Denver had a month that was more than a full degree cooler than average. This November breaks up that long stretch.
DENVER — Despite a few warm days going into the weekend, November will finish up much cooler than average in Denver. It’s projected to finish with an average temperature about 1.4 degrees below the average.
That cold is significant because it breaks up a long run of unusually warm weather that really goes back to January.
May finished with a cooler than average temperature, but it was only a half degree cooler. March was only two tenths of a degree colder than average. The last time Denver had a month that was more than a full degree colder than average was 10 months ago. January was 3.5 degrees colder than average.
The heat has been the big weather story in 2024, with four out of the last six months making the top five warmest in history. June was number 2, August was number 5, September was the warmest in history, and October was the second warmest.
2024 was on pace to make the top five warmest years of all time in Denver going into November, but it’s been just cold enough so far this month to knock it out of contention. However, if December ends up anywhere near average — give or take about a degree — 2024 will still finish in the top 10 warmest years in Denver’s 152-year history.
