Britani Meek, 25, was reported missing after telling family members she was traveling to Denver with an unknown person.
YUMA, Colo. — Nearly a month after an eastern Colorado woman was reported missing by family members, her body was found in rural Yuma County.
On Oct. 25, the Yuma Police Department received a report about 25-year-old Britani Meek. The report indicated, according to police, that Meek was going to Denver to meet some unknown person.
On Oct. 31, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation put out a missing endangered alert for Meek. That alert indicated that Meek was traveling to the Denver area to meet with someone and had not been heard from or seen since around 3 p.m. Oct. 25.
The alert also said that law enforcement was “concerned for her safety.”
On Nov. 16 her car, a 1987 Blue Pontiac Bonneville, was found in rural Yuma County, the police department said in a Facebook post. Days later, on Nov. 22, a body was found.
On Nov. 27, an autopsy was performed, and the body was positively identified as Meek. A cause of death was not released.
According to the coroner, her body was found “on the property in question” during an “ongoing search of the property.” The exact location was not disclosed.
