DENVER — One of Denver’s most visible holiday fixtures was quite the popular attraction last holiday season.

Visit Denver said a total of 231,653 people went inside the seven-story tall Mile High Tree in 2023. That’s an 88% increase from 2022 and an overall record for attendance, according to Visit Denver.

An all-time single night record was set on Saturday, Dec. 23, Visit Denver said, when there were 19,025 visitors. That was also the last night of the nearby Denver Christkindlmarket, which was put on by the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado Chapter.

The Mile High Tree is 110 feet tall (that’s 10 feet taller than the tree in Rockefeller Center!) and 39 feet in diameter at the bottom and features 60,000 LED lights that change color as multi-cultural holiday music plays.

The Mile High Tree was first installed at Sculpture Park in Denver in 2019. The tree moved to the 16th Street Mall in 2020 and 2021 before moving to Civic Center in 2022.

The tree was created by ILMEX Illumination, a decorative lighting production company in Spain. Madrid-based Brut Deluxe handled the lighting design using pixel-mapping technology.
