Michael Bolton recovering from surgery for brain tumor

The 70-year-old singer said the surgery was a success and he is recuperating at home.

LOS ANGELES — Singer Michael Bolton is recovering from surgery for a brain tumor, he shared on social media. 

In a note to fans, Bolton shared that he dealt with serious health challenges just before the new year. 

“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery,” the Grammy winner wrote. “Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”

The 70-year-old performer said that he will have to take a temporary break from touring as he “will be devoting my time and energy to my recovery” over the next few months, and added he hopes to return to performing quickly. He was scheduled to begin touring in February with dates scheduled through 2024. 

“It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”

The singer didn’t share any more details about his brain tumor diagnosis or the operation. 

“I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years,” Bolton ended his heartfelt note to fans. “Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always, MB”

Bolton has released 24 studio albums, eight of which made the top 10 on the Billboard charts. He has sold more than 75 million records, and has won two Grammy Awards and six American Music Awards.
