Inside Ratcliffe’s Man Utd plans

Everything you need to know as Sir Jim Ratcliffe takes charge at Manchester United…

Wilcox only moved to St. Mary’s from Manchester City last summer.

But he already viewed as a key part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s behind the scenes rebuild at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils want Wilcox to become their new technical director as part of a revamped footballing department at the club.

United are believed to have offered compensation of around a year’s salary to Southampton.

This has been dismissed as well below Southampton’s expectations for such a senior figure.

That offer, and the timing, has angered the Saints hierarchy.

Wilcox has been instrumental to the overhauling of the coaching staff and squad at Southampton.

He hired Russell Martin as manager last summer as well as overseeing a hectic transfer window following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

The former Blackburn Rovers winger is thought to be keen on joining Ratcliffe’s revolution at Old Trafford.

Wilcox worked alongside incoming chief executive, Omar Berrada, at Manchester City and would work under Dan Ashworth, who is joining from Newcastle United as director of football.
