LITTLETON, Colo. — A man was shot and killed by Littleton police after approaching officers with a weapon Monday evening, the Littleton Police Department said.
The department said around 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a house in the area of West Kettle Avenue and South Datura Circle for a possible suicide in progress.
Police said when officers arrived, “they were confronted by a male in his 50s with a weapon who exited his home and approached responding officers.” It is unclear what type of weapon the man was holding.
At least one officer fired at the man, police said. He was taken to the hospital, where he died. His name has not yet been released.
The 18th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.
