Police said none of the three people inside the ambulance were hurt.

AURORA, Colo. — A man is in the hospital, accused of firing a gun at an ambulance in Aurora Friday.

The Aurora Police Department said officers responded to help Aurora Fire Rescue Friday afternoon with a house fire in the 4200 block of South Kittredge Street. That’s near East Quincy Avenue and South Chambers Road.

Someone had called and reported that a man had run out of a burning house, holding a gun.

While Aurora Fire Rescue was working to put out the fire, a Falck Rocky Mountain ambulance arrived and the man immediately shot at it, police said.

The bullet hit the windshield of the ambulance, according to police, but it didn’t hit any of the three ambulance employees inside.

Officers found the 34-year-old man nearby and took him into custody after a brief standoff where they used less-lethal rounds.

The man was being treated at the hospital Friday night and was expected to be arrested on Saturday on charges of arson and two counts of attempted murder.
