“And this is why you can’t trust people,” Tate captioned the video. “If you know who it is share. I figured it would happen but not adults.”

TYLER, Texas — Halloween is the one night a year when kids can dress up, tour the town, knock on the doors of complete strangers and be met with that famous East Texas generosity.

However, generosity can be taken for granted, like it reportedly was in one Tyler neighborhood.

Cody Tate, guitarist and singer for the country band Whiskey Myers, lives in Tyler. And this year, Halloween just happened to fall on the same day the Texas Rangers were playing in Game 4 of the World Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks (#WentAndTookIt).

So, in a social media posts shared by Tate, he generously put out a bucket of full-size candy bars with a sign that read, “Please take 1. Happy Halloween!! Go Rangers!!”

However, from the looks of things, that sign was disregarded by group.

Shortly after, Tate posted a video that appears to show a group of adults and children rummaging through the bucket and taking not one piece…not two pieces…not even three pieces…but every last piece of candy.

“And this is why you can’t trust people,” Tate captioned the video. “If you know who it is share. I figured it would happen but not adults. Now all the kids after these people can’t have any candy.

So goes the saying…”This is why we can’t have nice things.”
