The FAA reported a ground delay at Denver International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
DENVER — More than 600 flights were delayed at Denver International Airport on Tuesday afternoon as storms passed through the metro area.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported that DIA was on a ground delay, with an average delay of 51 minutes due to thunderstorms.
As of 4:50 p.m., DIA had 646 delays and 11 cancellations. The majority of the delays were on Southwest Airlines and United Airlines flights, according to FlightAware.
Travelers should check with their airline on the status of their flight before heading to the airport.
Temperatures were expected to be cooler on Tuesday with showers and storms developing over the Denver metro area and the plains as the day goes on.
By Thursday, mostly sunny skies could warm Denver to near 80 degrees before becoming briefly cooler again Friday with scattered storms thanks to another cold front passing through.
