Civic Center Conservancy is raising money to help cover the cost of flowers and is calling on volunteers to plant in Denver.
DENVER — Downtown Denver’s premier park will have flowers this summer, after all.
Civic Center Conservancy said it plans to plant and maintain flowers at Civic Center Park this summer despite City of Denver 2024 budget cuts.
The Denver nonprofit said the community can help with the effort by donating money or volunteering to help plant and care for the flower beds.
Civic Center Conservancy hopes to raise $25,000 to help cover costs of the stewardship throughout the summer. Volunteer opportunities will be available through the Civic Center SPARKLES volunteer program.
“Our work as an organization has always been to create a beautiful, welcoming space in the heart of Denver,” said Eric Lazzari, executive director of Civic Center Conservancy. “Maintaining the flower beds in Civic Center Park is not just about aesthetics — it’s about safety and belonging. We’re committed to shouldering the financial burden of upkeep for the park’s flowers this summer with the help of our community.”
“We know that efforts like this aren’t an option for all of Denver’s parks,” Lazzari said. “The only reason this is possible in Civic Center is because Civic Center has a nonprofit dedicated to helping meet its needs and because of our longstanding unique partnership with the Denver Parks and Recreation.”
