A winter storm caused flights to be delayed, canceled at DIA on Sunday, and impacts could carry into Monday morning.

DENVER — Winter weather returned to Colorado, canceling and delaying flights at Denver International Airport Sunday, and it could impact operations into early Monday morning.

As of 5:00 p.m. Sunday, 45 flights were canceled and 310 were delayed, according to FlightAware.

SkyWest and CommuteAir reported the most cancellations, while Southwest and United reported the most delays.

The airport has said it typically handles anywhere from 1,700 to 2,000 flights on any given day.

The last time a powerful winter storm hit Colorado, the state’s largest airport recommended that travelers check security wait times ahead of travel at FlyDenver.com and reminded passengers that de-icing operations could add 15 to 20 minutes to a trip.
