Flights are already being delayed at Denver International Airport as snow moves into the metro area Saturday morning.
DENVER — More than 200 flights have been delayed Saturday morning at Colorado’s biggest airport as winter weather conditions roll in for the Denver metro area.
As of 10:40 a.m. Saturday, a total of 241 flights were delayed and 17 were canceled at Denver International Airport (DIA), according to FlightAware.
Impacted airlines include United, Southwest, SkyWest, CommuteAir, Mesa, Delta, Frontier and Air Canada.
As rain and snow fall into the Denver metro area Saturday morning, there’s a chance for some significant snow accumulations later in the day. Colorado’s mountains will continue to get heavy snow during the day, but snowfall will likely slow down at night.

What is Severe Weather?
According to the National Weather Service, there are five specific types of weather that can qualify as “severe.” They are tornadoes, floods, lightning, hail and wind.
A thunderstorm is considered severe when winds reach at least 58 mph and/or contains hail at least 1″ in diameter. When these conditions are met, the NWS will issue a severe thunderstorm warning.
Lightning and heavy rain are not included, but often accompany severe thunderstorms.
