Welcome to England vs Bosnia
As England continue their preparations for Euro 2024, tonight they kick-off their first of two friendlies as they Bosnia at St James’ Park.
Jude Bellingham will not play any part in this game due to his Champions League participation and the same will be the case with Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and Kobbie Mainoo who will all join up with the squad at a later date after their FA Cup final exploits.
Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Anthony Gordon all missed training due to injuries and will not be involved in this game.
Bukayo Saka and John Stones will be rested having joined up with the squad late.
Crystal Palace duo Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton will be looking to make their mark as they try to cement their places in Gareth Southgate’s final squad for the Euros.
For the same reason, Southgate may opt for a lot of fringe players this evening so he can take a look at players before announcing his final selections, possibly starting with Ollie Watkins up front this evening.
Bosnia coach Sergej Barbarez will be taking charge of the national team for the first time and has brought in a number of uncapped players for the match, although veteran striker Edin Dzeko still makes the list.
It will be the 38-year-old’s 153rd cap for his country, but Barbarez will be without Atalanta defender Sead Kolasinac due to injury.
Ermin Bicakcic, the most experienced defender in the visitors’ ranks will also be missing as he is struggling to shake off an ankle injury that kept him out the final round of games in the domestic season.
