One couple said they were driving on Highway 60 near Johnstown when something hit and smashed their windshield.

JOHNSTOWN, Colo. — Police are investigating at least two reported incidents of objects hitting vehicles on a Colorado highway Thursday night.

One of the victims, Itzel Gierach, said she and her husband were heading home to Milliken while on Highway 60 when something hit their windshield, shattering it.

“Out of nowhere we just heard a loud bang,” Gierach said. “My ears popped.”

They were able to pull off to a nearby carwash to assess the damage and call police.

“We looked at the window and it was completely shattered,” Gierach said. “Thankfully, no glass flew at us.”

Gierach said the incident happened seven minutes away from their Milliken home. With police officers following, they were able to get the car safely back to their driveway.

Gierach said she didn’t know who or what hit her car, but she does know she wasn’t the only one to have something like this happened that night.

She posted her story on a neighborhood Facebook group and found out there were other incidents involving drivers on Highway 60.

“One of the victims that this happened to reached out and they basically said it was about an hour before us and theirs was very similar,” Gierach said. “We don’t know until police figure out there’s the some connection.”

Johnstown Police confirmed investigators are looking into Gierach’s case.

9NEWS spoke with the another alleged victim, Batina, over the phone. She said her husband was driving on Highway 60 around 7 p.m. when a grocery bag with “rocks and slime” hit the front of his car. It happened near County Road 13.

She said she currently has an open case with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnstown Police weren’t able comment on the case as the investigation is ongoing.
