Police said excessive speed is suspected in the crash that occurred Saturday morning on Interstate 225 near Alameda Avenue.

AURORA, Colo. — A teen who was driving a stolen SUV that crashed Saturday morning on Interstate 225 didn’t have a license, Aurora Police said on Monday. A 15-year-old girl was killed in the crash.

The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. Saturday on I-225 near Alameda Avenue. Police said opened and unopened alcoholic containers were found in the SUV.

Excessive speed is also being considered a contributing factor in the crash, police said.

Investigators have been in contact with the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges in the crash are warranted.

The name of the girl who died has not yet been released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
