A shooting near West 80th Avenue and Conifer Road involved an Adams County Sheriff’s deputy who was injured, a suspect was killed, said the sheriff’s office.

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — An Adams County Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a shooting and a suspect who fired was shot and killed in Sherrelwood Wednesday night, said the sheriff’s office. 

The shooting happened near West 80th Avenue and Conifer Road in Sherrelwood around 10:15 p.m. and involved a sheriff’s deputy who was injured and taken to a hospital, said the sheriff’s office. The extent of the deputy’s injuries are unknown. 

The sheriff’s office posted to X that deputies attempted to contact a wanted suspect. They said the suspect exited the house with a firearm and there was exchange of gunfire. One deputy was struck in the extremities and taken to an area hospital for treatment. 

A deputy was shot, but does not have life-threatening injuries, said the sheriff’s office.  

Deputies are still investigating the shooting, but said they were not looking for anyone else involved in the shooting.
