DENVER — Denver is opening cooling centers as extremely hot temperatures approaching 100 degrees in some areas are forecast over the coming days.

The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for the Denver metro area for Monday and Tuesday.

Denver Parks and Recreation will offer space in each of its rec centers that the public can access during normal business hours to cool off.

The designated spaces will be staffed and have access to drinking water, restrooms and places to sit. Denver Public Library locations are also available to use as indoor spaces to escape the heat.
