Lone Tree Police arrested Oscar Lozoya-Borrego, 27, on attempted first-degree murder charges.
LONE TREE, Colo. — Police in Lone Tree have arrested a man accused of firing a shot into a moving car on Interstate 25.
The Lone Tree Police Department said in a release that just after 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, they received a 911 call of shots fired from a man who said that he and four other people were traveling southbound on I-25 near County Line Road when they saw that the driver of a black sedan was driving aggressively.
The driver of the sedan pulled up next to the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle displaying a handgun, the release said. The driver then shot one round into the front passenger side bumper of the victim’s vehicle while going about 80 mph, according to police. No one was injured.
Lone Tree Police said officers and detectives responded and learned that the victims had recorded the suspect vehicle and its license plate with a cellphone. That helped investigators find the shooter’s car at around 1:30 p.m. in the area of Main Street and South Chambers Road in Parker, police said. With the help of the Parker Police Department, Lone Tree Police detectives took the suspect into custody.
The suspect is identified as 27-year-old Denver resident Oscar Lozoya-Borrego. He was booked at the Douglas County Justice Center for several charges, police said, including five counts of attempted first-degree murder. He’s being held on $500,000 bond.
Police said they searched Lozoya-Borrego’s car and found a gun. They believe it was an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the public.
