DENVER — With the pass of the summer solstice, the Centennial State will continue to lose precious minutes of sunlight each day until the winter solstice in December.
Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 5, rolling back the clocks an hour in the middle of the night and granting most Americans an extra hour of sleep as they “fall back.”
The 5:54 p.m. sunset on Saturday, Nov. 4, will be the last sunset in the 5 p.m. hour in Denver until Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024.
Denver’s sunset drops to 4:53 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, after the clocks shift backward one hour.
On the other hand, Saturday morning will have the latest sunrise of the year at 7:31 a.m. On Sunday morning, the sun will rise at 6:32 a.m.
In December, sunset times in Denver range between 4:35 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
The winter solstice occurs Thursday, Dec. 21, at 8:27 p.m. MT.
