The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the park Saturday morning.
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — An amusement park in Glenwood Springs was closed Saturday after someone died.
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that deputies were dispatched to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park just after 9 a.m. for a death investigation.
The sheriff’s office said the park has been closed to the public in order to preserve evidence and “in the best interest of public safety.” The public is asked to stay away from the area so investigators can work.
Neither the sheriff’s office nor the park are releasing any information about what happened.
It’s not clear how long the park will remain closed.
In September 2021, a 6-year-old girl died after falling out of the Haunted Mine Ride. No criminal charges were filed against the park, but her family filed a wrongful death lawsuit and the Colorado Division of Oil and Public Safety fined the park $68,000.
