A customer was driving toward the post office building when they lost control of the brakes, according to a spokesperson for the United States Postal Service.
BAILEY, Colo. — The post office in a small Colorado mountain town temporarily suspended its retail services after a vehicle crashed into the building Friday evening, according to a release from the United States Postal Service (USPS).
A spokesperson for USPS said a customer was driving toward the post office in Bailey when they lost control of the brakes, leading them to crash into the front of the building at 24 River Drive. The post office was closed at the time of the crash, the spokesperson said, and no one was injured.
According to the release, customers will still be able to pick up P.O. Box mail and packages at the rear entrance of the Bailey Post Office building during normal business hours, which are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
Nearby retail services are available at the Pine and Conifer post office locations:
- The Pine Post Office is located at 187 Mount Evans Blvd and operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
- The Conifer Post Office is located at 9546 S Dallman Dr and is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
Measures are currently being taken to make the building accessible and safe for customers, the release said.
