The Colorado Temporary Rental Assistance Grant is making $30 million available for people who have fallen behind on their rent and are at risk of being evicted.

DENVER — Coloradans who are struggling to pay their rent can now apply for rental assistance funds available through the state.

Denver saw its highest eviction numbers in 15 years in this January, and people who are afraid they’ll lose their homes is an issue seen across Colorado.

Now, the Department of Local Affairs has funding available through the Colorado Temporary Rental Assistance Grant to help people who have fallen behind on their rent payments.

The highest priority applicants are people already facing eviction who have a court date for eviction proceedings. Applicants also have to meet a series of other qualifications.

Click here to fill out a pre-application form

The pre-application form became available Thursday and will remain open for applications until Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. The pre-application period will then begin on the 15th day of each month after that as long as funds are available.

Once you’ve applied, you can contact the CARE Center by calling 720-356-0174 or 888-480-0066 regarding your application and to get more information about immediate support that’s available. It’s open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Pre-applications are entered into a random selection system. People who are at the most risk of being evicted will be prioritized.

Selected applicants will receive an email invitation to complete a full application on the online portal within seven days. Applicants must submit the completed application along with all required documentation before the deadline.

The $30 million in rental assistance has to be used by June 30.
