Jordan Howard, 26, pleaded guilty to reckless manslaughter as part of a plea deal.
AURORA, Colo. — A man who ran a woman over in Aurora, leading to her death more than a month later, pleaded guilty to reckless manslaughter this month and was sentenced to five years in prison.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded about 4:30 a.m. March 4, 2022, to reports of an injured woman in a parking lot near East 11th Avenue and North Peoria Street.
Officers found a woman with serious injuries who was taken to the hospital. She told officers she had just met a man a short time earlier and was driven to that location at around 1:30 a.m.
She said the man, later identified as Jordan Howard, choked her unconscious, pushed her out of the vehicle and ran her over, police said. She lay there for hours before she was found.
Aurora Police said the woman was hospitalized numerous times after the incident and died from her injuries on April 19, 2022.
Howard was later identified as a suspect and was arrested May 3, 2022. Howard, now 26, was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Court records show first-degree and second-degree murder charges, along with several other charges, were dropped in exchange for Howard’s guilty plea on March 19.
