Police across the Denver metro area are cracking down on expired vehicle registrations this week along the I-25 and I-70 corridors.
COLORADO, USA — Law enforcement agencies around the Denver metro area are on the lookout this week for drivers with expired tags.
The Denver Police Department (DPD), Colorado State Patrol (CSP), Aurora Police Department (APD) and Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) started a week-long enforcement mission Monday along the Interstate 25 and Interstate 70 corridors.
The operation targets expired vehicle registrations and temporary license plates. It’s similar to one DPD carried out in July when officers gave out 430 tickets for expired registrations.
That operation led to a 30% increase in vehicle owners registering their vehicles, police said.
Failing to renew vehicle registrations could result in a $95 citation.
Drivers who live in Denver are required to register newly purchased or acquired vehicles in person at a Division of Motor Vehicles office in the city. Renewals on registrations can be done online or at a kiosk.
