“She was a little bit extra at times, she was very family-oriented, and she was a good person to be around,” Marquis Rios said of his sister, Destiny.

MORGAN COUNTY, Colo. — A family from Eagle is mourning the loss of their loved ones after a UTV and a truck crashed in Morgan County on July 4.

Colorado State Patrol (CSP) said a UTV ran a stop sign at the corner of Morgan County Roads C and 31. CSP said that’s when a truck hit the UTV, killing all four people inside.

The four people inside were 22-year-old Destiny Rios, her 22-year-old boyfriend Brandon Adkins, their 1-year-old son, Isaiah, and Destiny’s two-year-old son, Benjamin.

Destiny’s younger brother, Marquis Rios, described her as dramatic, caring and passionate.

“Destiny was definitely a character for sure,” Rios said. “She was a little bit extra at times, she was very family-oriented, and she was a good person to be around.”

Rios said he was in shock, and that he still has a hard time believing it.

“They lived a couple miles down the road from where it happened,” Rios said.  “The boys loved it. They loved going with Brandon on the side-by-side. They really enjoyed it.”

“They got their mom’s personality for sure,” Rios said. “They were characters, very funny, very cute. Just a spitting image of their mother.”

Marquis will always remember his big sister for who she was and the big personality she brought to their family.

“She had a goat and a bunch of chickens, and a dog, and she would walk the goat around on a leash like a dog,” Rios said.

Colorado State Patrol has not issued any tickets or arrests in this case and said their investigation could take months.

CSP said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash but couldn’t confirm if that would be related to the truck or UTV.

Rios’ family has set up a GoFundMe for support.
