Welcome to Chelsea vs Newcastle
Mauricio Pochettino’s side welcome Newcastle to Stamford Bridge for this Carabao Cup quarter-final with both sides having the chance to move one step closer to much-needed silverware.
Chelsea fans will be hoping to see a debut for Christopher Nkunku after being fit enough to be an unused substitute on the weekend after recovering from a knee injury picked up in pre-season.
However, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah, Lesley Ugochukwu, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez and Romeo Lavia will all miss this game due to injury.
Noni Madueke is back in training and may be involved in the matchday squad while the manager may consider recalls for Enzo Fernandez, Armando Broja and Malo Gusto.
While The Blues did not pick up any new injuries on the weekend, the same could not be said for the visitors.
Fabian Schar suffered a muscle injury which forced him to come off, while Joelinton suffered a hamstring issue which will keep him out for a while.
They join Nick Pope, Jacob Murphy, Matt Targett, Javi Manquillo, Elliot Anderson, Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes in the treatment room.
Sandro Tonali continues to serve his suspension for match bettering, while Kieran Trippier and Alexander Isak will need late fitness test to see about their involvement.
Lewis Hall has been cleared to face his parent club despite being on loan to Newcastle from the West London outfit.
