The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said crews are responding Tuesday afternoon to a fire in the Stone Canyon area near Lyons.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — Crews are responding to a wildfire in the area of Eagle Ridge north of Lyons that prompted an evacuation order Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Lyons Fire Protection District said the fire has burned 30 acres and is 0% contained. Boulder County Office of Disaster Management is calling this the Stone Canyon Fire.

Mandatory evacuation orders are issued for the Stone Canyon, Eagle Canyon and Eagle Ridge areas, according to the spokesperson. Large animals can be taken to the Boulder County Fairgrounds.

Aviation resources are currently dropping fire retardant over the flames, the spokesperson said.

  • Stone Canyon Drive at Highway 36.
  • Eagle Canyon Road between Stone Canyon Drive and Steamboat Valley Road.
  • Lewis Lane from Eagle Ridge Road.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office asked people to stay clear of the area. The sheriff’s office said crews were present in the Stone Canyon area.

This is a separate wildfire from the Alexander Mountain Fire that started Monday in Larimer County. That wildfire burning west of Loveland had burned 1,820 acres as of Tuesday morning and was 0% contained.

This is a developing situation. This article will be updated as information is confirmed.
