It was a crunch clash for the hosts, who are bottom of the table and in dire need of a win.

But before a ball had even been kicked, Oliveirense ran into trouble on the pitch.

With the field in Portugal soaked from heavy rainfall, groundsmen needed to redraw the white lines marking the goalkeeper’s net and boundaries.

It was busy work with the minutes to kick-off ticking down.

Yet the groundsmen managed to hit a major issue when their paint roller ran out of the good stuff.

In desperate need of another white liquid, they were left scratching their heads until they had a brainwave.

One staff member went off the field and soon returned with cartons of MILK.

He was seen doling them out to others, who squeezed the contents into the paint roller in desperation.

The substitution appeared to work though, with the game going ahead as planned.

But Oliveirense’s savviness did not pay off.

Football stars’ weird phobias

They were thumped 3-0 in front of their home fans, leaving them with just nine points from 17 games and four points behind the next nearest team – who still have TWO games in hand.

As for Felgueiras, the win saw them move to 12th and go 10 points clear of Oliveirense.
