Matchday
It’s game day, Gooners!
Arsenal host Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium TODAY at 3pm.
Ramsdale ‘going nowhere in January’
Arsenal are tipped to snub approaches for Aaron Ramsdale from Prem rivals in January.
Football Insider say the Gunners are aware the keeper is hungry for more starts, not least as he wants to safeguard his England squad place for Euro 2024.
But it’s claimed Arsenal want to reassure Ramsdale he is still regarded as joint No1 with David Raya.
And the Gunners are reportedly determined to keep hold off of him – with a switch to another top-flight club regarded as especially unwelcome.
Arsenal vs Sheffield United preview
The Gunners host Sheffield United this weekend in another Premier League match.
Read SunSport’s preview here:
Partey still out
Midfielder Thomas Partey sat out the Champions League clash in Spain due to a thigh injury he picked up in training on Monday. He remains on the sidelines.
Gabriel Jesus limped off with a hamstring injury after his goal against Sevilla and is now unavailable.
Jurrien Timber will definitely unavailable as he continues to recover from a serious injury he sustained at the start of the season.
Amid growing pressure on goalkeeper David Raya, all eyes will be on whether he starts between the sticks or if Aaron Ramsdale gets recalled.
For Sheffield United, they hope to have duo George Baldock and Anel Ahmedhodzic back in contention for the trip to the Emirates on Saturday.
But the game will come too soon for John Egan, Max Lowe, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Tom Davies and Chris Basham after his horror ankle injury.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side are in the midst of a defensive injury crisis that saw them play an out of character back-four last time out due to the restricted numbers.
