Piers Morgan praises Arsenal star
Piers Morgan reserved special praise for one Arsenal star following today’s win – but not Eddie Nketiah.
Instead he picked out England international Declan Rice after the midfielder ran the show.
Morgan tweeted: “Arsenal have been so good today.. and once again, this guy’s run the show: Declan Rice”
Arsenal face striker transfer battle
Arsenal are eyeing a move for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, according to 90min.
The Mexican has been in terrific form with 15 goals in just 11 games this season.
Tottenham and Chelsea are also monitoring Gimenez and have sent scouts to watch him play.
Nketiah dedicates goals to late auntie
Eddie Nketiah has dedicated his hat-trick against Sheffield United to his late auntie.
Nketiah told Match of the Day: “It’s amazing. It’s not been easy – last month, I lost my auntie so I want to dedicate these three goals to her.
“Her family were here watching so it is a really special moment.”
Arteta explains Martin Odegaard absence
Mikel Arteta has revealed a little niggle ruled Martin Odegaard out of the win over Sheffield United.
Emile Smith Rowe was handed a rare start in place of the Arsenal skipper, with Bukayo Saka taking the armband.
Arteta said: “We went through all the minutes that everyone has played. Martin has been carrying a little thing that wasn’t very comfortable in the games.
“We have players that have enormous quality and we have to trust in them.”
Gooners laud Nketiah for hat-trick
Arsenal fans have praised Eddie Nketiah’s knack of turning into “prime Ronaldo” whenever Gabriel Jesus is unavailable.
Jesus picked up an injury midweek during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Sevilla.
Jesus will miss weeks, possibly months with the injury, with Nketiah expected to step in in the meantime.
And Arsenal fans are buzzing with Nketiah’s form so far, with one Arsenal fan tweeting: “Average Eddie Nketiah performance when Jesus is injured” alongside a montage of Ronaldo Nazario’s goals.
Pundit lauds hat-trick hero Nketiah
Tim Sherwood has lauded Arsenal’s hat-trick hero Eddie Nketiah, who he feels could easily play for Manchester United because he is an ‘upgrade’ on Rasmus Hojlund.
He said on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday: “‘I feel sorry for Eddie Nketiah, because people [in general] and Arsenal fans, no matter who it is, they are always asking questions about him and looking what he can’t do.
“I like to look at what he can do. He can play in a lot of teams. A lot of big teams. You’re telling me this boy couldn’t play for Man United at the moment instead of Rasmus Hojlund?
“He’s an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund. [United] spent an awful lot of money on him.
“For me, Eddie Nketiah is top draw. I think he warrants playing for Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.”
