Douglas County deputies responded to the 9900 block of Aftonwood Street around 9 p.m. Tuesday for a report of gunfire.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — A man was arrested on attempted murder charges after a shelter-in-place order was issued Tuesday night for an area of Highlands Ranch.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in the 9900 block of Aftonwood Street around 9 p.m. Tuesday for a report about gunshots.

When deputies arrived, they learned that roommates who lived at the home got into an argument. During a disturbance outside the home, one of them pulled out a gun.

As one of the victims was driving away from the home, he heard gunshots and saw the suspect standing in the street. The suspect left the residence but was taken into custody a short time later without incident.

He faces charges of attempted murder, illegal discharge of a weapon, and disorderly conduct discharging a weapon.
