Crimes were reported in Broomfield and Denver involving the stolen Arapahoe County vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A man stole an Arapahoe County Open Space vehicle from a park and used that vehicle to commit multiple crimes in other areas of the Denver metro area, according to a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
The pickup truck was taken Monday morning from a park near the 8800 block of East Florida Avenue. That’s near South Parker Road.
The man who stole the vehicle committed several crimes while in that vehicle, the spokesman said. One incident was reported in Denver, and a second crime was reported in Broomfield. 9NEWS has reached out to Broomfield Police for information about the incident there but has not yet heard back.
The victim of the crime in Denver reached out to 9NEWS. That person reported that their vehicle, which was parked, was intentionally hit by someone driving a vehicle with Arapahoe County markings on it.
According to the sheriff’s office, the stolen truck was recovered about 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 8900 block of East Louisiana, not far from the area where it was taken. Multiple agencies set up a perimeter and used drones in an effort to find him, but he was not located.
Investigators spotted the suspect again around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and made entry into his apartment, but the man was not there. They left that area shortly after 9 a.m.
