DENVER — Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton honored the Gaudreau brothers before the team’s game against the Seahawks on Sunday by wearing Johnny’s Calgary jersey.

Before joining the NFL, Singleton was a member of the Calgary Stampeders, a Canadian football team in Calgary, Alberta, from 2016 to 2018. During that time, Gaudreau was playing nearby for the Calgary Flames.

Singleton walked out in the red and yellow jersey with Gaudreau’s name on the back.

The Broncos shared photos of Singleton’s jersey saying, “For the Gaudreaus.”

Columbus Blue Jackets left winger Johnny and his brother, Matthew, were both killed in a crash on Aug. 29.

The crash happened in New Jersey, where Johnny’s sister was set to get married the following day. Johnny and Matthew were riding bicycles when a driver attempted to pass two cars and struck the two brothers. They both died from the injuries they sustained.

There will be a memorial service for the Gaudreaus on Monday in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, according to CBS News. The Blue Jackets said it will stream the service on their website.

During a press conference on Wednesday, the club’s president and general manager Don Waddell said the entire team will be in attendance.
